PURPOSE

TAKING ACTION FOR OUR COMMUNITY.

Our coaching services are delivered with a purpose; our athletes train and compete with a purpose. Not everyone has the privilege of accessing sport which provides numerous health and social benefits. Sport has the ability to enable a better and more sustainable future for all by addressing global challenges such as climate change and environmental degradation, as supported by the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We encourage our athletes to undertake as many of the following action steps each time they head out in training or when competing:

  • Inspire others to participate in physical activity

  • Encourage more people to immerse in nature

  • Protect wild places - be respectful, do not be destructive and leave only footsteps

  • Plogging - if you see rubbish, pick it up

  • Contribute back - clean up, plant, reinstate... give something back to nature and the surrounding communities

  • Learn about the impacts on nature - head over to The Lentil Intervention for plenty of informative resources

  • Plan(e)t Cuisine - undertake dietary changes that reduce the negative impact on nature; go plant-based. The bonus is an improvement in your performance!

  • Consider your transport options when getting to nature such as public transport or carpooling

  • Support events that reduce their impact on nature such as being cupless, minimising their waste and supporting local community projects

  • Sports Gear Revived - when you no longer need your sports gear, donate it to this important campaign.

  • Take actions that are unique to you and do the best you can

In addition, at Kaitiaki Endurance Sports we endeavour to:

  • To champion the action steps above

  • No longer redesign the Team Apparel on an annual basis; when possible, garments are made of recycled ocean plastic

  • Mentor aspiring endurance sports coaches

  • The Monthly Membership is a tax-deductible donation to The Lentil Intervention, a registered charity
